Mixed legacy of 1916

Next year we are to commemorate the 1916 rising. Opinion is divided as to whether it has been good for us or not. Its violence, without a democratic mandate, has left a legacy ranging from fanatical patriotism to murderous thuggery. Based on the experiences of previous milestone commemorations, the celebrations may inflame feelings North and South and lead to more violence.
