I was moved by Colm Tóibín’s interview (SBP, 19/4/2015) in which he expressed that he feels hurt by the arguments on the subject of gay marriage.

I was, for years, excluded from the right to marry because my partner had been previously married. I remember being angry and I also remember the betrayal I felt when the divorce referendum failed. So I can empathise a little.
