In the April 5 Sunday Business Post article by Gillian Nelis on NUI Galway president Jim Browne, he is quoted as saying that 39 per cent of those promoted to senior lecturer grade in 2014 were women. This ignores the fact that this percentage is a result of 20 appeals following that round and three (all female) being subsequently promoted by the university as a result of ‘calculation errors’ being found.
