Large users of water must register with EPA for first time

New bill will mean golf clubs, dairy farmers and others will not be charged, but may face restrictions on water use in coming years

Golf clubs, businesses and dairy farmers will have to register for abstracting water for the first time under a new law.

The water abstraction bill is designed to finally establish just how much water is being used in the country by organisations and individuals who are extracting water from their own private supplies.
