Labour Court: don’t allow public service sick pay to rise

The Department of Public Expenditure and trade unions have been told to review new public sector sick leave rules to ensure they don’t lead to a rise in the cost of sick days.

The Labour Court ruled this month on a new rate of sick pay for public sector workers who were out on what is known as ‘temporary rehabilitation remuneration’ (TRR) – that is, long-term sick pay.
