The long awaited Renewable Electricity Support Scheme High Level Design Paper (“HLD Paper”) was published on 24th July having received governmental approval that day.

It is generally a well-structured and well thought out document and provides a roadmap for Ireland to meet its 2030 targets. It largely follows the policy themes of the Energy White Paper published in 2015 which include community engagement, minimising cost to the consumer and diversity in the renewable energy technologies deployed.
