Kenny promises US tax rates as FG/Lab rise in new poll

Government parties preparing for late February general election

Taoiseach Enda Kenny is promising to cut tax bills for households to bring them in line with “lower tax” countries such as the US and Canada.

He has committed to abolishing the universal social charge, which currently takes in over €4 billion per year, over the next six budgets.

Kenny said that in order to create more jobs, the burden of tax had to be reduced to that of “lower personal taxed” countries.
