Irish doctors warn of assisted suicide

Doctors who care for terminally ill patients have told the government that introducing assisted suicide in Ireland would cause “significant harm” to “the most vulnerable in society”, and would “represent an irreversible, regressive change in healthcare policy in Ireland”.

The chairman of the Irish Palliative Medicine Consultants Association wrote to Minister for Justice Charlie Flanagan this year to discuss “serious concerns regarding potential legislation seeking to govern for assisted suicide in Ireland”.
