There is an innate common decency among Irish people. Empathy towards the former Taoiseach’s wife Maureen and their four children, Eimear, Conor, Ciarán and Séan, is in no short supply. The Book of Exodus speaks of the injustice of man’s iniquity and guilt visiting upon his children. We are answerable only for our own personal moral failings; no one else’s.
