Simon Harris has been under increasing pressure over the children’s hospital since last August. Was he simply hoping that it would be his eventual successor’s problem?

At the end of last August, Simon Harris was informed in a detailed three-page memo that cost overruns with the National Children’s Hospital could reach as much as €400 million. The Minister for Health knew immediately that he had a very serious problem in relation to the escalating cost of the long-promised hospital.
