Government hatches plan to defeat senators’ filibuster campaign

The government is planning to get senators to sit into the midnight hours to defeat the filibuster of the judicial appointments bill.

The bill’s main purpose is to change how the country’s judges are appointed. But it has been stuck in the Seanad for over a year due to the opposition of independent Senator Michael McDowell in particular.
