The Irish public would be told to “get in, stay in, tune in” if a radioactive plume was about to arrive over the country under emergency plans currently being reviewed by the government.

The country’s plan to deal with a nuclear accident or bomb may be amended in the coming months to ensure it is ready to be deployed, as European leaders grow concerned at the prospect of Russia’s escalation of the war in Ukraine.
