Garda overtime bill paid by cuts to IT and squad car upkeep

An Garda Síochána had to cut spending on squad car maintenance and IT services to pay for its record €42 million overtime overspend, it has emerged.
New documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act show that the Department of Public Expenditure had been seeking to rein in Garda spending on overtime for months.
