Fianna Fáil emerges as main winner in post-budget poll
Confidence-and-supply partners FF gain 3 points to reach 25 per cent - but Fine Gael is still in pole position, and most people questioned do not anticipate a pre-Christmas election
Fianna Fáil has emerged as the biggest beneficiary of a budget which was low-key yet still increased spending by €3.6 billion.
It had loudly demanded an affordable housing scheme which it knew could be delivered and stayed quiet on the areas where it knew that changes were going to be made regardless – most notably the ending of the 9 per cent Vat rate for the hospitality sector.
