Fianna Fáil has warned the government that it will not support putting the new 20-year national planning strategy into law unless guarantees are given on one-off housing in the countryside.

The aim of the National Planning Framework to is provide a clear strategy for an expansion of the population by up to one million people by 2040. That will require an estimated 500,000 new homes, as well as schools, roads and other infrastructure.
