FG promise more tax cuts for ‘squeezed middle’
Fine Gael has set out its stall for the general election by promising further tax cuts for middle-income families over the next two budgets.
Minister for Finance Michael Noonan has signalled that he will “mirror” the tax cuts imposed in the last budget in October, with the biggest benefits going to those earning under €70,000. This suggests a further 1 per cent cut in the top rate of tax, bringing it to 39 per cent, another €1,000 increase in the entry point for the top rate to bring it to €34,800 and further reductions in Universal Social Charge...
