Fianna Fáil is to oppose any effort to introduce a student loan scheme at third level and will instead argue for maintaining the current system.

There is considerable opposition among the party’s TDs to an income-based loan scheme, one of three options contained in the recent Cassells report into the future funding of the third level sector.
