Around €2.4 billion is spent on private medical insurance annually

Irish families are spending an average of €3,000 per year on health expenses, according to an analysis undertaken by Fianna Fáil.

The opposition party’s analysis found that Irish families are spending more than €4 billion per year on health expenses, such as prescription medications, GP visits, private medical insurance and nursing home care.

Fianna Fáil claims that Ireland spends more per capita on healthcare than most other European countries.
