The government has been criticised for its ‘max-fac’ plan to use number plate recognition technology on trucks arriving at Rosslare Port after Brexit.

A safeguard is needed because the new inspection site for customs checks at Rosslare is almost two kilometres away from the existing port – and there are four exit roads on the route that unscrupulous truck drivers could use to avoid the checks.
