The expert group on the future of water charges has found a way to scrap the charge without the government losing face
The so-called expert group on the future of water charges cost the taxpayer €280,000. Its short report published this week comes in at a neat €7,000 per page.
It contains no new information or research. It reads more like a Labour Court recommendation than a paper prepared by the world’s leading water policy wonks.
That’s hardly surprising given the real purpose of the expert group.
