Expansionary budget is a foolhardy move

With global risks abounding, the government should save for a rainy day

With a general election coming up, some would argue this government deserves to reap some of the benefits of its hard work over the past few years, nursing the country back to economic health by loosening its purse strings. Not so fast. Passing in a loose budget for 2016 would be foolhardy given the state and structure of the Irish economy.
