The UK government does not expect the European Union to shift its position on Brexit for at least a month, a person familiar with the matter said.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson is insisting the EU must re-open the Withdrawal Agreement it negotiated with his predecessor, Theresa May, and drop the backstop, a fall-back position designed to avoid a hard border on the island of Ireland.
