They talked quietly, avoiding the vigilant ears of the large gathering of journalists, all of whom were hoping there wouldn’t be a dead heat between Michael Gove and Jeremy Hunt for the second seat in the final leadership roundabout. “Too close to call,” they all said sagely when asked to predict.
