We know certain truths. We know that members of the Quinn family swore misleading affidavits, generated bogus payments, falsified documents and acquired offshore companies in an effort to keep control of a €500 million international property portfoli

We know all this, and much, much more. But do any of these truths mean that the bank should not try to settle its mammoth legal battle with the family of the fallen billionaire?

The issue of an entente between the bank, and by extension the state, and the Quinn family has been high on the agenda since this newspaper exclusively revealed the existence of secret peace talks some weeks back.
