It is finally take-off time for Ireland’s new aviation watchdogs after six years on the runway.

The Irish Aviation Authority is being split in two so that there is a clear division between its safety role and its commercial air traffic work.

It will now be responsible for regulating the skies, while a new body called AirNav Ireland will take over air traffic control for commercial airlines.
