Decision time for Varadkar on abortion
The Taoiseach is set to change tack on abortion in the coming weeks. But will the country follow him?
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar sees himself as a very different leader to his predecessor Enda Kenny. But he is expected to publicly signal a change in his attitude to abortion in the coming weeks, just as Kenny changed course in relation to same-sex marriage.
Kenny, of course, had once famously almost tripped over a flowerpot trying to avoid giving his views on same-sex marriage to TV3’s Ursula Halligan outside the National Library in Dublin.
