Government ministers have managed to agree to block a private bill seeking to hold a referendum on the divisive issue of abortion.

The cabinet decided after its meeting to introduce a counter motion to stop the abortion referendum bill from the People Before Profit (PBP) and Anti-Austerity Alliance (AAA) group.
