Music and cultural group lobbied to stop Arts Council being given control of its funding

Paschal Donohoe will be discussing amendments to the Finance Bill at committee today as he finalises the implementation of Budget 2020. One change that the Finance Minister will no longer be seeking to push through, following some effective lobbying, concerns the funding of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.

The organisation has a national reach comparable to the GAA’s, with 1,500 classes a week in Irish music, dance and singing at 18 cultural centres around the country.
