The reference to the woman’s place being “in the home” in the Irish Constitution should be replaced with a new gender-neutral wording to oblige the state to give better support to carers, the Citizens’ Assembly has recommended.

Around 95 per cent of members of the Citizens’ Assembly also voted in favour of paying higher taxes to deliver “gender equality” in Ireland.
