Fianna Fáil, like the best US corporations, has lots of vice-presidents. Five of them in fact. But the story of one of its new vice-presidents is well worth telling.

It is the tale of the bould Donie Cassidy, one of the party’s dyed-in-the-wool loyalists. The man who travelled 7,000 kilometres in the last three weeks to ensure he got the job atlast weekend’s Fianna Fáil Ard Fheis.
