Biden to arrive in Belfast as talks ramp up to get power sharing restored

The US President will mark the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, and celebrate the recent Brexit deal intended to preserve it

US President Joe Biden has said his top priority on coming to Ireland is to bolster and support the Good Friday Agreement and help restore the power sharing institutions in Stormont.

Speaking as he boarded Air Force One in Washington, Biden gave a clear message of support to attempts to see the Northern Executive restored.

Biden is due to arrive in Belfast on Tuesday evening, kicking off a long-awaited return to his ancestral home.
