Argentine economist draws parallels with Ireland

A leading Argentine economist has drawn parallels between the junior bondholders in Anglo Irish Bank and the so-called ‘vulture funds’ that are demanding full payment of Argentine sovereign debt.

Professor Alan Ciblis of Buenos Aires’ Universidad Nacional de General Sarmiento said that the behaviour of the junior bondholders, who claim to be owed up to €280 million by the state after the liquidation of IBRC, is reminiscent of the international finance houses which are demanding full payment of the debt Argentina owes to them.
