It was the return of “the Fine Gael-Sinn Féin show” in the Dáil, with Tánaiste Leo Varadkar and Pearse Doherty, the Sinn Féin finance spokesman, accusing each other of trying to score “political points” on Covid.

This is a sensitive time, given that that there were 3,569 new cases of Covid-19 in the Irish Republic yesterday and 1,145 cases in Northern Ireland.
