The centenary of the foundation of Northern Ireland falls next week. Under the terms of the Government of Ireland Act 1920, the partition of Ireland became a reality and the border was established on May 3, 1921.

You would be forgiven for not being aware of this contentious date in Irish and British history. Those living in Britain are certainly not aware of it.
