Sequoia and Tencent back Irish-founded Horizon in $18.1m raise

Horizon Quantum Computing, an Irish-founded but Singapore-based firm, has raised $18.1 million (€16.6 million) from backers that include Sequoia, which has previously led investments into the likes of Apple, Stripe, Airbnb, WhatsApp and Instagram.

Founded by Dr Joe Fitzsimons in 2018, Horizon is focused on building software development tools to unlock the potential of quantum computing hardware.
