Yes, we really can fix the Seanad

That is an election system belonging to another time and no longer appropriate in modern Ireland. The Seanad as currently constituted is indefensible. The current electoral system is elitist and has disfranchised a majority of citizens.

Just a thousand citizens have the right to elect 43 of the 60 Seanad seats. The Taoiseach appoints the remaining 11 while NUI and Trinity graduates elect six.
