Last weekend’s unforgettable win over the All Blacks proved that Ireland are now the team to beat. But it’s been a long, hard journey to this point

Two minutes to go last Saturday at the Aviva, and New Zealand are slowly and ominously crossing into Irish territory. The huge hits are going in, but the black tide rolls on. One minute to go. The Athenry chorus swells imploringly to the heavens. Full-time on the clock and the All Blacks are nearly on the 22. The emotion is pumping up the stadium like a tyre, throats are closing, eyes glistening.
