The Taoiseach can always ditch his cuts later if he has to in order to form a government, just like Fine Gael did with the promised USC repeal in 2016

Leo Varadkar is no orator. But he is box office. It is this latter quality that so excites the Fine Gael troops at the Ard Fheis. And anyway, is there a space left for the politician as orator? If James Dillon was to reappear at Citywest, some of the choirboys would seek to have him protected as a heritage construct.
