Some of Leo Varadkar’s criticisms of the media are valid, but he himself has actively encouraged them to focus on image and trivialise political issues

Leo Varadkar started his time as Taoiseach as he meant to go on: with a timely public relations triumph. He was barely a wet week in the job when Time magazine lauded him as representing “a break from the parade of ageing white men who pre-dated him”.
