US presidential election: 13 days is a long time

All of a sudden it seems the US is faced with a candidate decisively in the lead, writes Siobhán Brett

It has been an unusual week in this presidential election, in that there has not been anything particularly unusual about it. No feature more gory than others. No statement more galling.

If some are perhaps still reeling from a succession scandals, revelations, and leaks, Americans have in the last seven days been met with a new and, for some, decisive vista.

All of a sudden, it seems, the country is faced with a candidatedecisively in the lead.
