Tribunal has questions of its own to answer

Just what is going on with the planning tribunal? More than six years after it held its last public session and almost three years since it issued its final report, the work of the Tribunal of Inquiry into Certain Planning Matters & Payments is fast

Last week, findings of corruption against the former Fianna Fáil minister Ray Burke were withdrawn by the tribunal, a move that followed on from an earlier tribunal decision to drop its findings that Burke had hindered and obstructed its work.

It has also been forced to withdraw other allegations against George Redmond, a former senior official with Dublin City Council, and several developers and businessmen.
