It’s not without irony that the long and winding road that eventually led to the 1998 Good Friday Agreement had sought, as its major achievement, the ending of a perpetual unionist political majoritarianism, then the principal product of partition. Last week, as the North’s new power-sharing executive was revealed in Stormont, the latest political crisis seems to be the emergence of a sort of a perpetual DUP/Sinn Féin majoritarianism.
