SBP editorial: Time to look at bankers’ salary cap

The loss of both a chief executive and chief financial officer in rapid succession in AIB is not good for Irish business. The bank’s departing chief executive Bernard Byrne and chief financial officer Mark Bourke have been headhunted with better offers at smaller financial institutions.

AIB is vital to Ireland’s economic success and deserves to attract world-class leadership. Replacing Byrne and Bourke will not be easy for AIB.
