It’s time to consider giving targeted tax breaks to builders
Last September, Fianna Fáil made a number of proposals to help solve Ireland’s housing crisis, including cutting the Vat rate for the construction industry to 9 per cent for up to three years and tax incentives for builders and developers who provide affordable homes.
The proposals were criticised by a number of stakeholders, who argued that tax breaks had helped fuel the property crisis in the first place.
