What a tangled web the world has woven

Last week saw the 30th anniversary of the world wide web, but creator Tim Berners-Lee is decidedly underwhelmed by what we’ve done with it

The world wide web, clusters of information as they move through the superhighway: what do they look like? Ships? Motorcycles? Are the circuits like the M50 on a Friday afternoon? We dream of a world we can never see. Last Wednesday, however, it crashed into a snarl-up of 404 messages and outages.
