Despite all the spin doctors and focus meetings, political parties continue to end up with electoral disasters. Often, you wonder whether they might be better off if they had paid more attention to what ‘the dogs in the street’ are saying. Both the British Labour Party and Sinn Féin are trying to understand their abandonment by a significant section of their electorate last week.
