Podcast: Dalian Atkinson's savage death is a wake up call for law and order
There must be better alternatives to Tasers in defusing dangerous situations, writes Susan O'Keeffe
The events surrounding the arrest of OCI boss, Pat Hickey in Rio will mark these Olympics out in Irish history forever. But the face I will remember from Rio 2016 is that of Katie Taylor. Her warm smile before the fight, and afterwards, the exhaustion and disappointment, mixed in equal part, the fresh sweat of the failed Olympic fight still on her brow. Losing is always tough but losing as the nation’s darling is oh, so much more challenging, especially with the nation’s Olympic reputation sliding down the tubes. She knew all eyes were on her, so failure for Taylor, who intuitively does not court or need publicity, is doubly difficult.
