Widespread public outrage over plans outlined in the Mulvey Report to the Minister for Health on the terms of agreement between the Religious Sisters of Charity, the 100 per cent shareholders of St Vincent’s Healthcare Group (SVHG) and the board, (though not the shareholders), of the National Maternity Hospital (NMH) has focused on two key issues: the transfer of ownership of the new €300 million taxpayer-funded hospital to the Sisters of Charity; and the likelihood of the imposition of a Catholic ethos on the new hospital.
