Cats have the capability to be little horrors at times, we all know that – but is a mass cull of them really the answer?
To be frank, this was a one-sided encounter. The cat was doing that staring-into-the-middle-distance thing that felines do to show you they’re in charge. The tag on his cage told me his name was Your Majesty Mr Universe, and he was one of the more striking entrants to the Dublin Championship Cat Show. His name suited him; in looks, he strongly resembled a miniature brown bear, but his demeanour was that of a minor royal. Ultimately, he was named Best in Show. He will have taken this accolade as no more than his due.
