If only there was a ‘red under every bed’, Novichok pouring from every vending machine and a lengthy list of Russian intelligence agents being parachuted into the country, all with aliases straight out of a James Bond movie.

That must have been Theresa May’s only thought this week, as she stood before the rested and sun-tanned MPs in the House of Commons, and read out the carefully manicured intelligence report on the Novichok poisoning cases...
